A hands-on design leader with nearly two decades experience in architecture, business, and strategy, Alex Dunham joined Workshop/APD in 2025 in a new role expressly created to improve and enhance the firm’s day-to-day business systems and processes. As a registered architect, Alex’s diverse portfolio includes aviation, healthcare, higher education, infrastructure, and commercial interiors work. He has developed considerable expertise in managing and cultivating global teams, operational leadership, and business development, providing him with the broad insight required for innovation and effective change management. Over the past decade in particular, Alex has partnered with numerous Fortune 500 clients to help them navigate the future of work, both spatially and culturally.
At Workshop/APD, he applies his background to enhance project delivery performance and evolve the firm’s operations alongside its partners, principals, and departmental leaders. He is passionate about marrying the needs of the business and its team, applying rigor and accountability without detracting from a vibrant culture of creativity and collaboration. A born listener who is equally interested in quantitative and qualitative data, Alex brings an informed, evidence-based approach and collaborative spirit to his work. Alex earned a BS in Architecture from the University of Virginia, a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business, where he was also a member of an acapella group. The father of two young boys, his hobbies include coaching little league, building forts, skiing, and golfing. In his spare time, he also enjoys traveling, gardening, and dining out.
