Becky Zhang

BIM Specialist
BZH

As a BIM Specialist, Becky Zhang brings a unique blend of architectural design experience and technical expertise across engineering disciplines to the Workshop/APD team. After receiving a BA in Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, she worked as a designer on a range of complex cultural and institutional projects, including performance-driven public spaces and historic preservation work. Realizing she was more interested in the tools that power designers’ work than in design practice itself, she shifted her career focus to Building Information Modeling (BIM), working as a BIM specialist in structural, façade, and MEP engineering. Since then, she has honed her skills both as a BIM modeler and specialist, as well as a teacher and consultant.

At Workshop/APD, Becky focuses on building and maintaining healthy Revit models, creating standardized content libraries, and developing automation tools to streamline workflows across multiple studios. Her role helps ensure that projects move seamlessly from concept through construction, supporting architectural teams with precision and technical rigor. She continues to push boundaries by exploring Dynamo scripting and emerging technologies such as pyRevit and Guardian, helping the firm stay ahead of industry trends. Outside the office, Becky channels her creativity into photography, videography, and running a food blog that celebrates New York City’s vibrant culinary scene.
