Nelson Fontanez brings a hands-on, systems-first approach to technology at Workshop/APD, where he is tasked with keeping the firm’s tools and processes running smoothly and moving forward. Nelson’s previous experience as a construction project manager provides him with context to match his technical expertise, making him invaluable to the team and its consultants. Following certificate studies at PC Age Tech Technical Institute, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Cloud Computing from Western Governors University, leading to a role as an IT Manager within a top architecture firm. At Workshop/APD, Nelson is focused on centralizing and advancing IT systems and environments that support the many ways the Workshop/APD team works; online, in the studio and on site, to improve reliability and access. In addition to providing crucial IT support, he also partners with the firm’s technical studio to evaluate emerging AI tools and streamline implementation. Outside of work, Nelson is an avid sports fan and gamer, and a retro electronics enthusiast who loves to revive classic consoles.
