In The News: Sagaponack Modern in Departures Home + Design

Our latest Hamptons project- a fashionable, minimalist family home in Sagaponack – is featured in the latest issue of Departures Home + Design in a story by writer Stephen Wallis. The dramatic interior renovation of a traditional post-and-beam Hamptons home “leaves nothing on the table but a perfect synthesis of style and function.”

The home is proof-positive that families need not hide behind bright, wildly patterned surfaces and textiles. Despite its uncompromisingly white, bright palette the home is designed to be low maintenance for a family with two small boys, thanks to natural textiles, simple jute floorcoverings throughout,  sleek, non-porous Italian ceramic surfaces and abundant access to the outdoors.

This surprisingly seamless connection to the outdoors ensures that the whole family fully utilizes the property’s sprawling yard, pool and pool house and a  perfect potting shed, designed with the husband as a sweet surprise for his wife.

Set on a lush, idyllic Hamptons lot, the traditional exterior of this post-and-beam house offers no clues to the extraordinarily minimalist, modern interiors it conceals. A study in contrasts, the home’s neutral, “handful of sand” interiors  draw the eye out to emerald lawns, gently waving grasses, and a garden bursting with white hydrangea, lavender and mature raspberries. The pool house was updated in warm woods, vibrant art and carefree furnishings to create a friendly vibe for lounging and entertaining.
