Born in Hong Kong and raised in Portland, Oregon, Allen Chung brings more than a decade of experience in residential, commercial, and hospitality design to his role at Workshop/APD. After earning a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon he moved to New York City, taking on diverse roles at respected residential architecture firms before moving into corporate interiors. As a Senior Architect at Soho House, he developed a deep appreciation for operational logic and design constraints, viewing both as essential tools for creating spaces that feel intuitive and well considered. Today, his work run the gamut from hospitality projects to luxury residential developments, where a keen understanding of the way people use and inhabit space, his interest in craft, and commitment to functionality make each space feel personal. Allen enjoys being involved throughout the life of a project — from early planning through documentation and construction — bringing a steady, detail-driven approach to each phase. Outside of work, Allen enjoys staying active, exploring the city’s restaurant scene, and traveling to experience new places, cultures, and cuisines.
